FAQ
The Room
Is there a separate room for playing outside of the school?
Nope, not yet anyway. It hasn't been needed yet because we can simply do school or city, or both through OOC communication. If a separate room is needed, one can always be opened and so long as Fates`Call is invited, it can be logged and counted as play.
Where is everything?
Well.. we have a map with the general locations of areas on it. However, character rooms and offices are usually just located in their given domain and never really given a room number or specific location. This is because is the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, even during play. A character can walk to their room.. without needing to post that they turn left, right, right, left and second door from the whatever-omg-so-annoying... Just.. walk to the room you're going to, and boom, you're there. You also don't need to know street names or building names in the city.. Just make them up.
So.. my character's powers effect objects like machines...
Depending on the power itself, the mansion of XF has been equipped with superb security and protection against power fluctuations. The electronics and machines are superior and modified due to the wealth of the institute. It makes sense due to the technology and the fact it's a place for mutants with little to no control, otherwise everything would be destroyed 24/7 and that would be one hefty bill. However! Items owned by students and staff may not have the modifications needed to withstand the surging powers of another and may only do so with Op say-so via IC modification.
Gameplay
I was interacting but nobody likes my character! Why does everything keep going wrong?!
Like IRL, in role-playing, characters do not always get along. Personalities and ideals clash, as well as attitudes. And just like you should not and do not want to change your character's way of behaving to force interaction, nobody else will change their character either. You have to persevere through it and perhaps switch characters for a bit. Remember, don't take the frustrations IC and OOC. Keep them separate. Although you may get upset, constantly complaining about it won't fix things. This drama is what causes good role-play and some characters have flaws that cause these interactions and situations, such as being Overconfident or a Blunt Speaker. Also.. one character may see yours as a jerk or more. That's their opinion and they are entitled to it. Don't complain because a character's opinion is just that, an opinion and does not reflect the player's. Just role-play and have fun and deal with the issues IC. It's just a game.
I'm IC and nobody is playing with me. Why?
Have you tried interacting? Acknowledging other characters? Look over posts and be sure you didn't miss anything. Just like in the real world, if you want to be socialized with, you have to be social and can't always depend on others to make that first step. Just jump in and find a way. Think out of the box and remember, have fun.
Nobody is IC...
Well, you should ask in OOC if people want to play. Second, go to #GoE`OOC and ask if anyone is up to play their mutant. That room is a sister room to this one, where players go to play vampires or come here to play mutants. They may be in the mood for vampires over mutants, but there's always someone willing to hop in, Ops included of course.
Powers
Can I play a canon character, like Wolverine?
Yes! Players can play already-made characters. However, you can't have one as your first character here and you have to play them true to how they are. Detailed information and knowledge is required.
I want to play a power but it's already on the powers in play list...
So? As long as it's not on hold, you're free to play that power. That list just shows people what is already in the game. It's all about how you use the powers, making them unique. That's why it's so easy to have multiples of the same power in play-- They're still different.
What if an aspect of a power I want to play is on the hold list?
Well, then that aspect will be approved as limited or not at all. The whole point of the hold on types of powers is to diversify the room and give characters others to interact with beyond their own power circle.
OOC
Do I really have to read the sites and forum? I just want to play...
Do you really think this text-based game is the game for you?
Mun? What's a mun? Why is it Myname-mun?
Mun refers to the player, so Icarus' player would be Icarus-mun or the player referred to as Icarus' mun. It's simply another way to refer to a player oocly so as not to be confused with their character who's name they play under.
Someone's ranting to me in PM but I don't want to tattle and I haven't told them how it bothers me...
Tell an OP. We're here to deal with this and nobody should rant on someone who isn't there to hear it. You are not obligated to listen and you will not be a bad person for not listening or being upset or annoyed. No player has the right to release their baggage on you, friend or not. If they are frustrated, they need to deal with it without reducing the fun of others.
