Four Years Later…
Player Nick: ^Casey^
Name: Ivor Siegfried
Codename: “Sphinx”
DOB/Age: July 4, 1989/20
Height: 6’2”
Approximate Weight: 175 lbs
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: softly glowing indigo
Status: American Citizen, Wanted Terrorist/ Former member of the Brotherhood
City of Birth: Oslo, Norway
Mutations:
Psychokinesis – Psychokinesis is a form of telekinesis which allows for the mental manipulation of both matter and energy (such as fire). After years of training, the former terrorist is capable of mentally manipulating up to three tons of matter without over stressing himself. The matter/energy in question must be in line-of-sight if Ivor was to use his powers upon it. An over exertion of up to five tons is /possible/ but doing such for more than five minutes risks both the manifestion of the Sphinx as well as a potential comatose situation for several hours. He is also capable of rudimentary flight due to the nature of his power. Psychokinetic blasts and shields are also possible. If he creates a shield, it can sustain the rounds of heavy fire, but if the shield is active for more than ten minutes, he is exhausted and unable to use his power for several hours. He may use no other form of his powers while projecting a shield, and the glow of his eyes intensifies during the use of this power.
Telepathy- Once upon a time, a man named Xavier saw the potential for telepathic power within the child Ivor when his mutant powers yet lay dormant. In the years since he’d joined the Brotherhood, that ability manifested once he’d gained better control of his raw power. With eye contact, he is able to read surface thoughts which allows for telepathic communication, and with touch he is able to read memories. Further development is possible, but he believes he needs a much stronger telepath to help draw it out.. saaay Professor X himself…
Shell Manifestation – During times of great duress and heightened emotional times, Ivor’s powers manifest physically. Literally his psychokinesis becomes a shell of psionic energy around his body in the form of a Sphinx, similar to the one used by the Phoenix. Unlike Phoenix, The manifestation is currently uncontrollable, appearing at moments of weakness for the boy. He couldn’t use his psychokinesis during this time because the shell is his power. Therefore, when ‘wearing’ the shell, he can physically lift (if Sphinx could be said to ‘lift’ something) the same weight that he can move with his mind. Additionally, the Sphinx form is capable of energy-winged flight. The shell can be harmed and is unable to shield itself. The Sphinx shell takes the damage, and when the Sphinx “dies,” Ivor is returned to his normal state, in a coma-like stasis for several hours.
Weaknesses:
Over-Exertion: Over exertion of his powers can be detrimental to Ivor as well as everyone around him. His tertiary ability is drawn out in an out-of-control form when he over uses his powers. In this state, either the Sphinx is brought down or twenty minutes passes. At that point, Ivor enters a coma state for up to one week.
Frailty: While he did train with his friends in the Brotherhood at times to work on the health and strength of his body, Ivor is still frail compared to many. His strength lies in his mind, and catching him by surprise could potentially be deadly.
Sea of Thoughts: Since the development of his telepathy, Ivor had to learn to set up mental shields to keep out the overwhelming flow of thoughts coming from those around him. The longer he uses his psychokinesis, the louder the inane babble of incoherent thoughts becomes in his head until at last he loses control and the Sphinx takes over.
Nightmares: Since the development of his telepathy, Ivor’s nights have been wracked by terrible nightmares of his own death. During his sleep, his mental powers reach out to the minds of his victims from years past and he sees firsthand the terrible vengeances they would bring upon him.
Telepathic Inexperience: Because Ivor is not as experience with his developing telepathy, he is more sensitive to the effects of other Telepaths. It’s actually made it easier to read his mind, that is if you dare to take a peek..
Background:
Early History:
Ivor was born on July 4, 1989 to Wilhelm and Dana Siegfried in Oslo, Norway. It was a regular day in the summer of Norway. Norway, of course, does not celebrate the American independence, so there were no celebrations during that time. So Ivor entered into the Siegfried family. His young parents were both thrilled and worried. Dana was a mere 21 years old herself, and her husband, Wilhelm, was only 22 and with out work. Though Wilhelm was well educated, times were bad in Oslo for him, and he simply could not find a job. Dana had left school to be married to her husband. She would had been forced to take up a job as a maid to pay for their scant rent and necessities. But with a baby, she could no longer do that.
Wilhelm found work as a factory worker just outside Oslo, a miracle at the time. That miracle soon turned to nightmare as the physical demands on Wilhelm were beginning to take there toll. It was a hard job, and it required nearly 50 hours a week away from home and in the factory. Youthful Wilhelm was becoming a sullen, morose, and violent man. He gave into drinking in his despair and misery.
The first time he struck Dana on the cheek in his drunkenness, they knew they had to get him away from the factory, away from Oslo. It was the spring of 1999 that they packed up and left Norway all together, returning to Dana’s native Stockholm. For the longest time, they remained there, living with Dana’s brother and sister-in-law. This merely was driving Wilhelm insane that he was so unable to provide for his family that they had to live in the house of his brother-in-law.
Wilhelm went back to school to refine his schooling even further, gaining his MBA from the business college in Stockholm, a rather prestigious place. His high marks in previous schooling were what earned him the scholarships to even attend.
In 2001, Wilhelm and his family moved to Amsterdam as he took up a position in a rising international corporation which had offices in sixteen countries. Wilhelm was very proud of his newfound profitable job. He even invited his brother-in-law and his wife out to visit them for a time in their townhouse in Amsterdam. Young Ivor loved Amsterdam. It was perhaps not the city with the best morals one wanted to raise a young child, but it was full of diversity. Ivor was just entering his teen years when they moved to Amsterdam, being 12 at the time. He loved the city with all its diversity and strange ideas.
Disappointment came to Ivor when his father was promoted in 2003. He was happy that his father was receiving such a good promotion because it met his family was finally entering into the prosperity that they deserved, but it meant leaving all his friends and the familiarity of Amsterdam. He and his family were put into English language classes by the corporation for the next two years to get them ready for the transition.
In 2005, the Siegfrieds moved from Amsterdam and the Netherlands, to the bright and shining star that is New York City. Ivor’s grades slumped a bit at first as the depression truly set in. He has made a few friends since coming over from Amsterdam, however, and they have truly helped him.
Ivor had heard of mutants. They weren’t an exclusively American phenomena after all, but he’s never seen so many active as when they moved to New York. He was fascinated by Mutants. He watched all the news coverage and discovery-channel specials that he could on evolution and the x-gene and mutants in general. Part of him wished he could be part of that world, and yet the rest was quite glad he was a normal human boy.
Or at least, he’s –thought- he was a normal human boy. But Ivor had been present at the incident at the mall. He’d seen the might of the woman the Americans called Polaris. He’d seen the raging mutant that busted through the wall. He’d witnessed it all, and he had been terrified. But something inside him seemed to call out and sympathize with the mutants who were there that day. It was an odd feeling, and Ivor wasn’t sure he liked it.
All he could do was watch the news and listen to the stories. Was he a mutant? Surely not. He was certain he was only letting his imagination run away. After all, he felt bad for mutants, so it was only natural he’d feel sympathy for them when they were in a bind….right?
He began searching about, asking the shady mutant kids at school funny questions. How did they know? How did it happen? All his questions had lead him on a quest to one Xavier’s Institute. He had always been fascinated with Xavier and his beliefs. He now intended to meet the great mutant who had done so much for mutant-kind. They were lucky to have him among their people…
Four Years Ago:
Ivor's powers were activated early into his search by one Maverick Knights, a.k.a. Armor. The boy panicked when faced with the possibility of being shot. The resulting psychokinetic storm resulted in several deaths and the destructions of several store fronts. His entire world changed forever, young Ivor went on the run and never looked back.
He never forgave the mutant Armor, and that one never gave up trying to best the Dragon he had awakened in the boy. Twice after the manifestation of his powers, Ivor nearly took the life of Maverick. As Maverick was a student at Xavier’s, Ivor received a poor impression of the student body there.
Destiny had plans for the young vagabond, however. One of his multiple clashes with Maverick and other students of Xavier’s in the streets of New York City was witnessed by none other than the sinister Mystique. Recognizing the boy’s raw untrained power, she could practically smell the near limitless possibilities. A vision of Magneto having his own Phoenix consumed her and she took the boy in.
Ivor received personal training from Magneto himself on an almost daily basis. The regimen was difficult, consisting of intense use of his mental powers as well as working to keep his body in peak physical condition. By the time he was seventeen years old, the boy had become a key member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants.
Ivor’s first real excursion into the criminal world was an operation organized by Magneto to break into a government facility built to hold “dangerous” mutants. There in the midst of New York City, an elite team of Brotherhood Mutants assaulted the para-military base. Ivor was relied upon to use his powers to shield the others from attack, and he did fantastic… enough to make the news and America’s Most Wanted.
Since that first operation, the boy had become a walking terror. Where he went, death and chaos were sure to follow. Magneto himself realized he had created a monster and had to discipline the boy severely at times for the wanton havoc he was prone to cause.
Recently:
Ivor was surprisingly quiet during the street level wars concerning Mutant Registration. He was a known and wanted mutant already after all. Like many of the rest of the Brotherhood, he disappeared into the shadows, a nearly forgotten but lingering menace to the “normal” populace.
With the development of new power, however, the shadow has come to life once again. Once upon a time he had hoped to meet the great Xavier. When he did, he was already on a path to damnation, and he saw no way to change that. But now as the nightmares worsened, he feels the only way to steady himself is to seek out the world’s greatest Telepath.. even if it means searching the universe and beyond.
God help the City of New York for the Return of Sphinx is upon them. Will he fight to defend Mutantkind this time around or is the young man truly lost to goodness? Only time can tell…
