Player nick: ^REDX^Ultimate
Name: Jeremy "Remy" Murray
Codename: Astroglide
Status: Other
DoB/Age: November 23rd, 1984
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 160lbs
Powers:
* Gravity Manipulation/Creation: Remy can lessen and heighten the pull of Earth's gravity upon himself and things within a few feet of him at will, as well as creating temporary localized sources of gravity. This allows him to do things such as negate most of the effect of Earth's own gravity while creating a source of gravity for himself in another direction, effectively shifting gravity and letting him walk and lay on walls and ceilings as if they were the ground to him. While not strong using both enough to fly, he can lessen earth's gravity and create a source of gravity above himself to allow for super-high jumps, able to clear two-story buildings with a good jump. He can do things such as increasing the pull of gravity of things he's holding like a blunt object to come crushing down with more force than his body is capable of producing alone, however this can also lead to numbing his hands and thing after impact, as he doesn't actually possess super strength.
* Uncanny Accuracy: Remy can't really explain this gift, but as long as he can remember, he's always been highly accurate with anything involving hand-eye coordination. Anything that requires hand-eye coordination, most notably the firing of any projectile weapons and throwing weapons, to the aiming of anything held in his hands. The only theory he can come up with is he's subconsciously micromanipulating gravity to guide the trajectory of projectiles to their target, but it's only a guess from him.
Weakness:
* Curiousity: Remy's life and powers have left him with...the urge to see life and all situations in every angle presented. While it gives him youthful qualities, at times he acts much like a child in his wandering into situations that he'd usually do better staying out of.
* Trickery: Also much like a child, but again not a completely bad quality is his love of pulling pranks and tricking people, enjoying to see their reaction. Of course, not all reactions are equal, and it's bound to get him in trouble one of these days depending on who it's pulled on..
* Aversion to killing: While not completely against the killing of another, from the things he's seen Remy is highly reluctant to commit such a thing unless the alternative is imminent danger of him or someone close to him.
Special Skills:
* Acting: A basic art of his old job, he has the great knack for acting! Whether it's playing innocent just like his youthful personality seems, Remy seems to know how to spin a good enough story and act the part enough to get out of plenty of situations.
* Military Training: Another part of his old job, Remy has been trained intensely for combat, both hand-to-hand and close-quarters combat, along with a large assortments of guns. For obvious reasons, however, the latter are his forte.
* "Artillery" Expert: Not quite what the name implies, Remy has not just a proficiency with weapons, but the odd-yet-potent ability to modify guns for alternative ammunition, as well as the ammunition used in these odd concoctions. His favorite creation is what looks to be a sniper rifle with the notable modification of not even being capable of firing bullets, but instead a variety of things, such as tranquilizers,
as well as a special type of silicon-based "bead" whose designed was borrowed from the military, as he was one of the sole uses of it. When fired at long range, a direct hit would be merely enough to knock one unconscious instead of kill, which is its primary purpose, originally for..sensitive matters. While this could potentially be used for modifying weapons for more destructive means, his mantra is completely against that, though it does make him a target for those who'd want otherwise..
Background/History:
Remy Murray grew up in your average upper-middle class American home, eldest of four, with two sisters and a brother. His mother owned her own small business, first starting as a home-cleaning business she did herself, but over the years it grew into a small establishment with her at the head. His father was a recruiter for the Army for many years, having served his country for numerous years beforehand stationed at various places.
He grew up in Chicago with his family, living the normal life, his own coming of powers even relatively tame and kept under wraps by his family, since he had begun playing sports around the age of ten or so, his family had noticed how incredible his hand-eye coordination was for his age, always managing to hit the spot he was aiming for. It wasn't thought supernatural, though, until a baseball thrown at him in a friend's anger caused him to recoil in fear at the incoming ball, but all that was heard was a loud thud, family nearby checking the backyard to find a dumbstruck Remy and best friend next to a hole six foot deep with the baseball at the bottom.
Thankfully for him it was his best friend in the situation and he actually managed to keep quiet! Through the years growing up he learned to control it a bit better, beginning to be able to use it to jump a bit higher, lift things heavier than his body was actually capable of, and of course playing sports in high school.
Despite having football and basketball scouts all over him for him to join college to play for them, Remy decided to follow family tradition, joining the Army for a college scholarship, to be "molded into a man!" or so his dad would say, despite already being proud of him. It was what the Murrays did, they went into the military to pay for college, and they either stayed in the military, or they quit and went about their career of choice.
For Remy it was much the latter, doing it to make his dad happy and still get his college done, he didn't mind the physical training that the Army had to offer at all. Unfortunately for him, though, his accuracy would bite him in the butt for once in his life. It wasn't often at all that one could hit their mark with each and every shot, and in the end, got him sent to more..specialized units, and even moreso other operations under the government's military umbrella.
Though classified, the projects were unquestionably black ops in nature, and during this time Remy honed his special powers even more under the instruction and guidance of his new commanding officer, his new boss. He began to be able to create wells of gravity to move up walls as if they were the ground, even the ceiling was an easy feat, and improve his jumping, lightning and heavying of gravity in close proximity as well.
But all was not well with this project, for it was black ops, after all, and Remy was exposed to things by the age of twenty one many never saw in their entire lives, and over the next four and a half years they took an increasing toll on his mental health and personality. In the end, it proved that he was not cut out for such dirty jobs, going AWOL in the middle of a mission, leaving enough evidence to insinuate that he was kidnapped or worse, and he was declared as far as his family was concerned that he was MIA serving his country in the middle east, since missions he worked on were things that the government would never admit to being involved with.
Out of fear getting caught, Remy spent the past year flying around the world, losing what track if any the government actually had on him, before deciding that a trip back to the states was finally safe. Now he makes his new stay in good ol' NYC, not even letting his parents know he was alive, for that would surely send up a red flag.
His view on life had changed from all of his missions, leaving him cherishing every moment of existence, and trying to live it to its fullest, even if it does mean creating a little bit of havoc every now and then...Unfortunately if his face were ever to be caught causing such a thing, both his family and the government would more than likely crack down! What's the only way he could still have that fun, whether helping or causing a mess? He would need a disguise!
With an odd sense of humour, the temporary "Superhero-bordering-on-vigilante" named Astroglide was born! However he came up with that name, much less the costume, may just be better off undocumented...
Appearance:
Remy's build is lean but highly in shape, always keeping active. His hair's shorty, spikey and a nice, bright flaming red color, with dark jade eyes. His smile and demeanor gives his face a youthful appearance, which fits his look on life and actions perfectly!
As for his costume, though... The full costume is a plain, light red color, hands and feet a clashing white hue, head covered in a similar red mask. But on his chest like most superheroes seemed to have, he has his own logo!..Actually, he had three sets of costumes, and each has its own logo, depending on his mood!...Unfortunately, all three are different pictures of bottles of Astroglide! Oh boy...
