Powers: Plasma Control and Manipulation
*Hand-to-Hand Combative with Plasma: If fighting in a hand-to-hand combat situation, Laura is capable of forming a low to medium amount of heated plasma, on certain areas of her body such as: fists, elbows, knees, feet and shins, even her forehead at some points if a head butt is in effect. With little need of concentration due to her training before she ever reached the school, she is able to form plasma on said body parts that resemble flames, which happen to a crimson red color. If the plasma is active, but unused for a certain amount of time (usually two minutes), then the energy will be wasted and be extinguished, which is one of the ways her energy can decrease quickly. If an attack is initiated and connection to object or opponent(s) is made then the plasma will take effect before dissipating. The effect of being hit with heated plasma can resort in severe burns or singed flesh, clothing, object, etc. Because of the heat of the plasma, which is rather cooler than most, it –can- come close to melting flesh or anything else she has hit. With this, she moves, creates, and extinguishes the plasma too quickly to have it absorb any electricity. Usually, after each attack, LJ is capable of reforming the plasma quickly but it will take up a lot of energy as she goes until eventually she will be exhausted, causing it hard for her to form more and more of the plasma due to her concentration dropping from exhaustion. Laura is all right in this area since she uses martial arts training to help her with this power.
*Plasma Blast: To perform a type of ‘plasma blast’ it will take Laura a small amount of time (usually three slow Mississippi counts) to form in which she is using a high amount of heated plasma, which is hotter than the small areas on her body that can be ignited. What’s done during this short amount of time, Laura extends either her right or left arm, usually her right since she is right handed, palm facing upwards and fingers curled in some as if grasping an invisible rock within her hand while the opposite hand grasps her wrist to steady her arm. Since plasma and electromagnetic fields seem to be attracted to one another, it will drain whatever electric energy around, just causing a few sparks on and around her hand. By the time the second Mississippi is counted a wispy ball of flaming plasma is expanding upon her hand with a few shocks of electricity crackling here and there. By the third Mississippi the wispy, flame-like ball of plasma (about a foot in diameter) is prepared and can be flung, thrown, or pushed into the object/person. Since the plasma is hot it will cause a severe case of burns and a small explosion due to the electrical current charged through it. If a more developed or trained mutant formed the blast, then the small explosion would take out anything electrical in the area, but with LJ, it’s just enough to flicker lights. With every power there is a weakness though. If the blast is not finished being formed and is used then it will explode in the palm of her hand, causing electric currents to surge up her arm and into her body, throwing Laura quite a ways back. For a few moments (up to a minute or so) she cannot be touched until the currents settle back down. Of course the blast is much more complicated then just the combative use of plasma since it takes more energy, concentration, and time. Laura can only form and fire –two- blasts before she is completely exhausted due to the amount of energy is used. This is why the blasts are used as a backup. This is an area LJ yearns to excel more in due to the fact she can only form two blasts and will be exhausted rather quickly.
*Plasma Sticky Bombs: This is something Laura just has fun with and it takes no time at all to conjure up. This time, if she clenches her fist tightly, a small orb of wispy plasma is formed and can be squeezed and squished to other shapes. This only uses a low amount of heated plasma so it won’t cause –much- damage. Once the small ball of plasma (about five inches in diameter) is formed with a very low amount of electricity absorbed, it is capable of being stuck onto a person or object. After about a five second delay, the ‘sticky bomb’ sets off into a small explosion to shock and burn the object or person, causing a small ‘bang!’ and a little bit of puffy smoke. If the plasma sticky bomb is buried or put beneath something, then when it sets off it will cause the object to bounce or in a case it is put in the ground it will cause the earth above it to be shot up into the air. If anyone were to step on it, it would cause some damage and perhaps fling him or her back. This takes almost no energy for her to perform and create these. LJ would like them to be stronger and more effective and would wish to be trained on how to do so.
Weaknesses: No one is perfect and Laura Jacobs is far from it. With plasma and electromagnetic fields being attracted to one another, it causes her to actually be harmed by an ‘overdose’ of electricity. If a mutant who’s power is electric based uses any type of attack on her, it will trigger her plasma and absorb it into her causing her muscles to tense and lock up before being shocked. In this case it takes a lot longer for her body to be restored and at this point in time no one can really help or touch her. LJ is fine around water since her power is not solely electric; it’s just what the plasma absorbs. Going into water, taking a shower, washing her hands, drinking water will –not- effect her due to her power being more plasma based. It’s just that plasma can absorb electricity.
Special Skills: She is extremely well at skateboarding since she began to skateboard at the age of twelve and continued since then and to this very day. With skateboarding, her normal speed was increased and her concentration and balance more efficient since it takes balance for someone to even stay on a moving skateboard.
Besides skateboarding, LJ enjoyed martial arts and fighting. Being enrolled into a few martial arts classes, she trained in Korean Tae Kwon Do and bits and pieces from Brazilian Jujitsu as well as kickboxing. After quitting her classes once she excelled up to three belts, she used her skills on the streets and mixed martial arts in with regular street brawls. With combined knowledge of martial arts/street fighting and skateboarding, her reflexes have enhanced to where her dodges, catches, blocks, etc. are much quicker than a normal person who hasn’t taken any classes.
Background/History: Laura Elizabeth Jacobs, born October 6, 1889, was born and raised in Ely, England. Born into one of the wealthier families, she enjoyed the luxuries as a baby, and the love and care of her wonderful and very high-class English parents. Though, no trace of Laura’s mutant powers had been found just yet. Her parents, William and Abigail Jacobs, lived the high life due to the apparent finding of gold in a small coal mine while William’s father had been part of the demolition team that planned on blowing the mine shut and as they did, Henry (William’s father) had seen the chunks of gold still embedded into the still standing walls of the coal after the explosion.
As Laura grew to be a toddler, she turned out to be a pistol, constantly acting up and getting ‘shirty’ (shirty is a English term that means to get a rude attitude towards one’s guardians) towards her parents. This attitude would soon grow into something more as she aged. At the age of five, her parents found her getting angry over the smallest things and whenever she would beat on the floor or an object besides the box (TV) or wireless (radio). After a few thumps against the floor, a small ‘pop’ would be heard and a bit of smoke would rise from her tiny hands once the box or wireless would mysteriously shutoff. To Laura, this was funny since she was just a child, but of course her parents ignored it and thought ‘nothing is wrong with my perfect child!’
Now, as years had passed and she turned into a young teen, taking martial arts classes, which she enjoyed very much. She had turned out to be a normal teenage, loving rock music and guitars, shopping and just walking around her small town within Ely. An area of a park had soon been the playground for a few skateboarders who were constantly arrested or busting their bums upon the pavements. Every now and then she would stop by and watch as they fell and soon busted by the Bobbies (police) since she found this rather entertaining. Still uninterested in skateboarding, Laura actually watched in amusement as the skaters pulled off tricks high into the air, on rails and doing little flips and spins. Once one of the boys had fallen, cracking his head onto the pavement, groaning as he tried to get to his feet, Laura cracked up laughing at him! These kids much older than this twelve-year-old girl were being laughed out. But, as the board rolled towards her, she peered down at it before attempting to kick it up with a foot like she’d seen them do before they headed home. Dropping it back down, she climbed aboard it and began to rock back and forth, of course falling off and losing her balance. Now, she was the one being laughed at.
Soon, she was interested in skateboarding and learned from the boys at the park after she had dropped out of her martial arts classes. Her goody good looks had changed into a rough and touch punk skater who blasted out music just to tick her parents and others off. Becoming part of the clique she grew to be called LJ (Laura Jacobs) and know as LJ around the town. Now, a year after she begun skateboarding and her thirteenth birthday, the signs of her powers rose up once more to make themselves known. LJ had begun to get into street brawls with other skateboarders and just other random teenagers who seemed to talk badly about her. What had really caught her attention was when she was stuck in a fight against two or three boys and she had begun to throw vicious punches. But, trailing behind her punches were faint shimmers of crimson red. By the time she had hit one of them, puffs of smoke would rise off their flesh as a pink burn was left in the spot she had connected with. Confused, and the boys completely freaked out at what they had witnessed, she took hold of that power and used it to finish off that fight. Crimson red, wispy-like flames glowed from her fists and feet as she kicked and punched. Even when she elbowed one of the boys the wispy red had been formed and singed the top of his head to where it burnt his blonde hair.
Unknowingly, Laura had unleashed these powers that seemed to have been hidden within her all these years. She would run home to tell her parents who didn’t believe her at first until she punched a hole in the wall that had left the smell of burnt paint in the air. The crimson red color glowing from her hand. Scared, her parents kept this a secret and threatened LJ until she promised to keep it a secret and show no one what she could do. Years went by with her practicing her power out in the yard while her parents were out, quickly picking up on how to use the hot plasma, which she discovered what it was by doing a bit a research and soon discovering she could form large balls of it to be thrown. Still into skateboarding, she had begun to be a mischievous teenage, now being seventeen. Skating through the streets, she had discovered the ability to stick that plasma substance to objects and soon she made it a fun game by sticking the small ‘sticky bombs’ to cars, right where you would go to fill up with gas. After the small explosion, the car would ignite and come close to exploding but those plans were spoiled when the fire department was called.
After being discovered by her parents with what she was doing, and causing havoc, she was threatened to be sent to America after they had seen others like LJ in America who had these types of powers and were called mutants. LJ never believed her parents with those threats until after she had graduation College (high school to Americans) and was informed she was being sent to New York in America to tend a school for ‘troublemakers like her.’ Fighting to get them to let her stay, she was soon sent off to America by herself to the mutant school: Xavier’s School for the Gifted.
After only being there for a week, she was encountered by a member of the Brotherhood, and being such a reckless person, she followed them. Now, she is against human kind and had already killed someone. This, of course, cost her a relationship with an American boy she met soon after arriving in America. Overtime, having to deal with the loss of him, she began to be more a loner. She would go out alone instead of in groups or pairs like most of the Brotherhood did. She is still wreckless, but only to a certain extent.
Appearance: Body modifications have been made such as the word ‘punk’ tattooed on her knuckles of her right hand and ‘rock’ tattooed across her knuckles of her left hand. LJ’s hair is a mousy brown with red streaks dyed into it which stood for the color of the plasma she had for her power; her hair reaching down past her shoulders a bit and occasionally worn in a ponytail. Her eyes are a soft hazel which randomly change colors from green, yellow, blue, and even mixed colors like brown with yellow rings, etc. Her ears are pierced three times in each, two are loops and one is a single stud that was actually a skull. Recently, for her nineteenth birthday she had gotten her tongue pierced. Also, on her right forearm there is a tattoo of the UK flag with a skater doing an Ollie in front of it. It’s not big, but it’s a pretty good size.

Personality: LJ is usually a nice person, but with a slight attitude towards anyone. She’s never quiet and always willing to talk up a storm, but some people in America find it hard to figure out what she’s saying due to her thick British accent and the odd words used. Though, if she gets mad, her attitude snaps and she gets rather cold and mean. After learning to skateboard she had turned into a troublemaker and willing to get herself into fights, even though she’d been worn not to fight at the mutant school she had been sent off to. Not showing it, but she does have a lot of respect for people but won’t if they disrespect her, what she believes, and disrespects what she loves and enjoys.
